Conference Venue and travel information

The GfOe annual Meeting conference will take place at the main campus of the University of Hildesheim, Marienburger Platz 22, Germany.





How to get to Hildesheim and the Conference Venue

By air

The nearest international airport is Hanover. Airports of Frankfurt, Berlin and Hamburg are only about two to three hours away by train. If you are coming from Hanover, take the S-Bahn train or a RE regional train directly to Hildesheim. A taxi from Hanover airport to Hildesheim has a price range from 75 to 100 Euro. From Frankfurt, Berlin or Hamburg take an ICE train connection to Hildesheim. More information on traveling by train can be found here.

By train and/or bus

Hildesheim can be reached by ICE trains coming from Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Kassel, Braunschweig and many other cities. From Hanover take the S-Bahn train or regional train, which leaves every 30 minutes from Hanover main station to Hildesheim (approx. 30 minutes travel time). More information on traveling by train can be found here. From the train station take Bus number 3 direction "Marienburger Höhe/Itzum" and exit at "Universität" (every 15 minutes, approx. 20 minutes to the venue). From the city center take bus number 4 direction "Itzum" and exit at "Universität". A taxi from the train station costs around 15 Euro. More information about bus transportation can be found here.

By car

From Frankfurt/Kassel or Hamburg/Hanover
Take the highway A7 and take the exit 62 "Hildesheim". Follow the signs towards Hildesheim City Centre until the roundabout. Leave the roundabout at the third exit towards Goslar (B6). At the next crossing go straight and follow the signs "Marienburger Höhe" or "Universität".

From Berlin or the Ruhr Region
Take the highway A2 until the main junction Hanover East, then take the A7 towards Hildesheim-Kassel and take the exit as mentioned above.
